The questions people ask most
If the answer is not here, write to us: the contact page is one click away.
Do I have to weigh my food?
No. Every dish in the reference has a usual portion, so "a bowl of soup" becomes three hundred grams straight away. If the dish is not there yet, Nora asks how much it was and offers three weights to choose from: one tap instead of typing. Say the weight in words and that works too.
Will it ask me about weight every time?
No, only the first time for a dish it does not know. What you answer becomes your usual portion for that dish, and after that it is logged in silence. Portions change as you do: say "pilaf, 300 grams" one day and pilaf stays three hundred until you say otherwise.
What does it cost?
The diary is free. Tokens are spent only on the assistant: one token for a message, two for a photo. You start with thirty, then two more every twenty four hours, and the balance tops out at sixty. Answering by tapping a weight costs nothing: the dish is already worked out, and there is nothing to count twice.
What happens when I run out of tokens?
The app keeps working. Logging by hand, the analytics, water and workouts are always there with no limits. Searching the reference is free too, so an entry made by hand still carries proper numbers rather than zeroes.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Entries are kept on the phone and sync as soon as there is a connection. Only the assistant stops, because it does its counting on the server.
Are there home-cooked dishes, not just supermarket products?
Yes, and that is the base layer of the reference: cooked dishes with their own numbers and a usual portion, not only packaged goods with a barcode. No reference covers every dish in the world, so whatever is missing is estimated by Nora herself. The estimate is made once and becomes yours: next week the same dish gives the same number, not a new one.
What about photos of food?
A photo is needed for exactly as long as the analysis takes and is never stored on the server. What reaches the diary is the dish name, the weight and the numbers, not the picture. A photo is counted on its own terms: it shows how much is actually there, and your usual portion does not override it.
Can I correct what Nora counted?
Yes, and you do not have to delete anything. Just write "that was two hundred grams, not three hundred" and the entry changes. The correction is not a one-off: next time the dish is counted with your number. "Move it to lunch" works the same way when an entry simply landed on the wrong card.
Do I have to create an account?
No. The app works fully without signing in, and every entry stays on the phone. But only on that phone: change it or reinstall the app and there is nothing to restore the diary from, because we do not know whose it is. Signing in with Google is the one thread that lets you get your entries back and see them on two devices.
Is this a medical app?
No. Calvi keeps a diary and counts calories with protein, fat and carbohydrates, but it does not diagnose, does not prescribe diets and does not calculate drug doses. It does not replace a doctor.
